VENUS HILL GETS MANY FRIENDS AT MYSPACE - GREAT GIGS - SOON NEW MATERIAL ONLINE!

Venus Hill is only on myspace for a couple of weeks and it is going wel. We are visited almost 2000 times and our music gets listened to a lot. We get great reactions from abroad with questions te come and play so af course we think that is great!

	We played in Argos with Clayborn. We met our ex bass player Rogier van Drinkenburg. Clayborn is very gooed and they rocket great! You should see them some time!! see clayborn.nl!!>> De DJ turned nice metal records afterwards and we had a great time!
	We were filmed so there will be new video material online soon! Another update from an ex-Hillers: 29 december Brian and Bas play with teh Polease at the Winston (ex-drummer en bassplayer).
	This is a Police Cover band wprking hard. They played at the Clash of the coverbands competition. see thepolease.nl!!>> And Boter ska en eieren with Esther and Kees play 15 and 16 dec at LVC and Patronaat. see b-s-e.nl/!!>> ! Venus Hill finally at myspace! We were often told that someone else registered under the name Venus Hill @ Myspace. But patience is a good cause, bcause after some emails and waiting the name was free to take! So from this week on you can find us at myspace.com/venushill

We had a great time at Tetterode, lovely food, and nice audience. Next day we went to Limburg to play at Zomaarpop. Nice festival with nice people!!

WELCOME SARINA - NEWEST LEAD SINGER!

We were walking in the jungle and we saw a lady lying in the water.

She came out and once she was dry she had a dreamy look on her face.

She opened her mouth and there was this great sound.

She was still a bit wild but she was up to a new beginning in live. And especially a new live with more music.

Then it all fell into place. We decided to take her with us cause we couldn't leave her there!
She said goodbye to the jungle and came to live in Holland and is singing with us for a couple of weeks now. It is going great.

She is very musically talented and we are very happy with our new member on board!

WELCOME SARINA!!
Sarina has a positive and fresh vibe and it feels like we found the chemistry we were looking for. It is wonderful to sing together and the band in total feels very good as we are today.

We are working on the final touches and have a lot of fun while spending a lot of time in the rehearsal studio, even when it was hot in the summer, mostly you could find us playing. But this means that we are almost ready to start with gigs again. In october we have some new shows coming up!

We have a couple of nice shows planned in october. Manifesto ( Hoorn )with de Hardheid, always nice of course! then we play at the 25th anniversary of Tetterode and we play at the festival Zomaarpop ( Limburg)!

INSPIRATION COMING FROM JAMAICA!!

Wow, we are back from Jamaica and we saw an overload of music at Sunsplash at Priory, Jamaica. In total we saw more then one hundred artists. From Dance Hall to a lot of Reggae and of course the wonderful Oldies.

We didn't know that Sunsplash is called Sunsplash because it will go on till the sun rises again the next day and even then it is still not finished. So 4 nights in a row music from 7 or 8 in the evening till 8 o' clock in the morning. The international night even went on till around 10 o'clock in the morning. So you stand there in the burning sun looking still at more bands and already beginning to drink coffee. Burning Spear had a show at St. Ann we didn't want to miss either, the concert lasted for 3 hours.

It was overwhelming and we are still enjoying it now. When we were not at the festival we heard some oldies played at bars or they had large sound systems on the beach. Everyday we heard nice music on the radio. It was amazing.

The poverty was kind of hard to see, very confronting. It was really impressive to be at the place where the music comes from we are inspired by. And we are again very much inspired by all the music we heard and saw.

We are also glad to be back and make our music again. We're on a roll and are very happy with Nico and Joris. It feels so great to play together. And as we promised! We will finally give news about our new singer. We will present her in our next news item!

SYLVIA & FABRIZIO LEAVING - WELCOME JORIS & NICO!!

After all the changes it would have been amazing if we were finished in one go. Only after a couple of months you can decide who wants to go for it and 8 (out of 11) guys and girls are really going for it! We do have some changes coming up and we are very excited about that. The energy is flowing and we have news about new members! We met Joris who will be our new drummer (see pictures on the right)
He played all songs of our cd's at the audition. It clicked and we stopped searching for a drummer immediately. WELCOME JORIS!

Fabrizio will leave as our steady bass man. He is a very good bass player but musically he wants to go into another direction and has an exciting new job coming up. We wish him all the best!

We searched for a new bass player and through Kees (sax) we found Nico (ex member of Boter Ska en Eieren, picture on the left) its a small world after all! He has a very nice feeling when he plays the bass! WELCOME NICO! We are excited to play with both of them and are working on new material already.

We were going to search for a new singer in the future. SYLVIA (picture on the right) is going to stop the bus after all those years. We once started the band together in 1997. Unfortunately she cannot combine the band with her life anymore so she decided to quit. She and Lalaine will substitute probably in the future and Syl will say goodbye at a gig in some time. Lalaine just came back from Jakarta and would like to substitute as well. She sang a song last gig which was very nice!

It does go fast because we also have already someone waiting to come and sing with us too! More news will follow quickly!

Anyway we are very happy with our new team, the horns are growing every week and we personally are their fan, new material is coming up and we are very exited to go one stage!

GREAT GIGS AND SATURDAY 3 JUNE FESTIVAL AT RUIGOORD !

We're having a lot of fun this week. Last weekend we played at Lentepop and the audience went crazy again. Great gig and nice people and nice other bands. Pictures online soon!

Yesterday we played at Winston. Sonic Boom was really nice and we saw a lot of friends. Was a great get together :-).
DJ L-ende played nice songs so we danced till late.

Coming saturday we play at Ruigoord. There a 3 day during festival of poetry and music “Vurige Tongen”  ( 3, 4, 5 june 2006) - Beat Poetry then and now

WINSTON 31 MAY WITH SONIC BOOM SIX (UK) AND DJ L-ENDE

Nice to play in the Winston again. We once had our first gig there with a complete band at 1998. We've had a lot of fun since then. From big festivals to nice youth centers, been on tour and some band changes especially last couple of months. We have a nice team that wants to go for it! Though we have some more changes coming up, more info later!

LENTEPOP - BRIAN SUBSTITUTES NEXT GIGS!

Lentepop Gouda @ 27 May - Venus Hill headliner

There will be a mix of ska, pop, metal, rock, punk en reggae this year at Lentepop.
Other bands are: Cirkle J, Je moeder , The Untuned, Devastatin' FX, TenK, Han-S-olo Show.The exact playtime is unknown yet, but we will probably play around midnight.

Band news:We were happy with our first drummer Robin ( 1997 - 2002 and last half a year). He joined us last year when we were looking for a drummer, first just temporary and then he decided to stay. Unfortunately he will not be at our shows the next gigs because he is in Uganda for his work. He suddenly can go a lot abroad for his company Filmenco, so he will not be able to combine Venus Hill with his work, so we will continue our search for a new drummer.

Brian substitutes! We are very happy to announce that out former drummer Brian will substitute the upcoming gigs, he played with us form 2002 till end of 2005 and you will see and hear him the next shows!

WE SURVIVED WORTEL AND QUEENSDAY !

Nice party's this month, we had a great gigs at Wortel in Belgium ( 't Slot) Nice place and nice audience! Had lot's of fun and were home real late with hangovers!

PICTURES AND VIDEO THE KADE ONLINE!

Sunday 12 march we played at the benefit for the Weiver. It was nice and there played great bands like Solid Rocket Boosters, Nas Drovje and the Beatlex.
We couldn't see all the bands cause we went back to Amsterdam to get a bite. Of course we hope the Weiver will stay and that this day helped them!!

12 MARCH FESTIVAL IN THE KADE TO PRESERVE DE GROOTE WEIVER
Saturday 11 march and sunday 12 march there is a manifestation and benefit to preserve de Groote Weiver.

We are always treated very well by the people of the Groote Weiver and we love to play there, so we are gladly playing for them.
