RECORDINGS KEEP MY HEAD HIGH FINISHED ! QUICKLY NEW RECORDINGS ONLINE!

Seemed quiet for a while but the website is updated again.
Yesterday Kyle came by with the recordings. It was totally new for us to let it go completely. Normally we are very involved in mixing and having ideas how we want to sound. This time it was totally in Kyles hands. And he made his version of our song.
Though it is different then what we are used to and would have done ourselves, we still get very cheery listening to the song! It sounds fresh!

Horns are writtten by trompetplayer Martje, saxophone player Patrick en trombone player Onno. Lyrics written by Bibi & Karolien. Stefan put a rough version together with Karolien and together with Venus Hill we made this song. Kyle worked with the recordings.

This song was born when we really had sank low. Halfway 2006 we thought we were ready to go and then Sylvia Robin & Fabrizio quit the band. Sylvia is one of the founders of Venus Hill so it was very hard to swallow. But we dedided not to let our heads hang down!
And so we wrote "Keep my head high" to make a fresh start again!

Hij studies in Amsterdam and approached us for a recording. Because of his music taste a.o. Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Streetlife Manifesto we thought it would be a great opportunity to record with our new line-up.

Especially since Keep my head high is also written with and by the "new" line-up.

STILL ENJOYING THE DINNER AND GREAT PARTY OF OUR 10 YEAR VENUS HILL ANIVERSARY + HAVE A GREAT NEW YEARS EVE ALLREADY!!



We are still enjoying the party. Philippe (bassplayer in the early days) made a perfect buffet with help of Emmy and Karolien. So we had a great dinner together. It was so much fun to see everybody again! It was a superb evening!
We played 3 sets with 3 line-ups, the first set with drummer Robin, second set with drummer Brian and third set with drummer Joris. Norman our formar soundengineer made recordings and Ruud also one of our soundenineers did the sound that evening. Super! Only pity was that Marius and Sarina were not able to come because of illness. But the rest was totally complete and we made a great party. It was so much fun to be on stage with everyone again!

23 DECEMBER - VENUSHILL FEEST / ANIVERSARY IN WILHELMINA PAKHUIS - 20.00
with on stage all Hillers of the past 10 years!!


1997- 2007

This year we started our band 10 years ago. Around februari we came up with the name and the idea. With a few friends we had our first gig at 12 december 1997. We just wrote our first own3 songs. Robin, Sylvia Stefan Karolien Lalaine and Philippe performed at the first gig.

10 years later we had a lot of ups and downs, great adventures, tours abroad, great shows, huge festivals and great intimate party's, good times and struggles, cd recordings, all part of being in a band. And we always played with a lot of passion, and during the last 10 years we played with a lot of great friends/ musicians. So we had the idea to have a party, to see everyone again and play together, 10 years after our firts gig, december 2007

Idea: we ask all Hillers which songs they want to play and we make a set with everyone from the different combinations of bandmembers. Goal is a good Party or Reunion with 10 years of Venus Hill music with a lot of fun and Hillers that dj music afterwards.

The entree is free. It is nice for the "old" or "new" fans to see your favorate on stage once again, or to see who played with us or play now with us. Every combination has their favorite songs that are great to play together again. Good news!! The crew is alsmost entirely complete! It is unbelievable! So keep the 23rd of december free!

This weekend we played with everyone and it promises to be a crowded stage. It was great to see eachother again and play together again! For an overview who is coming to play:

23 NOVEMBER SKANKY 'LIL FESTIVAL WITH MARKFOGGO & UPSESSIONS - 10 YEARS VENUS HILL PARTY COMING UP

After all those years we never played with Mark Foggo but we finally will! And also the Upsessions will play and dj Skapig will play his records! Another great Skanky 'Lil Festival!

Last update! In december we have our 10 year aniversary, because it was 10 years ago that we had our foirst gig. December 1997. Around februari we started out and soon we had our firts gig in december!

So time for a party to see everyone again and play with all the bandmembers/friends we played with the last 10 years!!

SEXS IS GREAT- DE BASTILLE WAS TOO-READY TO GO TO BUURTBOERDERIJ AND BITTERZOET !

8 september we played at the Bastille we had a great time! They are searching for voluntears and did it this way (see left-> sex is great - becoming collaborator too).

The audience was great and we had a good evening. See Bibi in action and the audience too. Pictured are coming soon!

We ran into our old sound engineer Norman, very nice!
Melomanics were ar great band too!.

8 SEPTEMBER OPENINGFESTIVAL BASTILLE

8 september we play at the openingfestival @ the Bastille in Schoonhoven. We understood that the cashbox is stolen so they need money!! There are 10 bands at the on stage and Venus Hill playes around 22.30.

10 bands, 2 stages, lots of beer...

It is the opening night for a new season!

SEEMS QUIET BUT BEHIND THE SCENES VERY BUSY AND SOON WE ARE READY TO GO!

We were supposed to go on a tour in Mallorca and it will happen in the future but we had to postpone it. We have a bit of a strange year with bandpeople getting ill, so the last couple of monthes we had to take a break from gigs. But behind the scenes we are working hard and start gigging in the summer again.


We are looking forward to gigs and we buy new gitares and have lots of fun in the reheasal room!

And drink beer..

KEYBOARDPLAYER KAREN QUITS

After two years Karen quits playing with us. That made us startle! She doesn't want to go but she cant combine it, has too much going on in her live so she decided it's best to quit. Of course we will miss her enormously
...
Especially when she laughed and the tears rolled over her cheaks..
She also wrote greta parts in songs and good at organising. Of course we will keep seeing her, but she wont play permanent with us anymore. Everyone in Venus Hill wishes het love and all the best!

HILLERS ON IMVU AND ALMOST READY TO GO ON STAGE AGAIN!

Nowadays a few members of Venus Hill are @ IMVU. Guitar player Stefan, singer Bibi and drummer Joris. IMVU is a chat program to meet online, possibly a show at IMVU? They found a stage pretty soon, possibly more members of Venus Hill will follow...
